Long-Term School Partnerships

Funded by the NYC Council’s Dropout Prevention and Intervention Initiative and the United Way of NYC’s Community Achievement Project in the Schools (CAPS), and in partnership with the NYC Department of Education, ENACT works year-round, in-school and after-school, in certain NYC public schools. During the 2008-2009 school year, ENACT’s school partners were:

In these partnerships, ENACT site staff - site directors, teaching artists, parent coordinators, and social workers - work as full partners with teachers, parents, and administrators to help create safe and nurturing school environments for students whose low attendance flags them as likely candidates to drop out. An on-going, on-site presence in the schools, ENACT's artists and staff create lasting mentor-like relationships, playing an important role in the students' growth into self-aware, self-confident members of their community.

At the end of the school year, students from all ENACT’s school partnerships come together for a culminating performance that celebrates that progress they have made throughout the year and affirms their commitment to stay in school.
